This passive solar smart house has been a work in progress for nearly 40 years as its owner continuously adds features to improve efficiency. The home includes passive and active solar energy and needs no furnace. Heating and cooling are handled through a heat pump and other automated features such as computer-controlled shades and a fan. Super high-efficient windows can collect and hold solar heat. Many of the home’s features can be controlled by voice, integrated with Alexa.
