This new home was designed to blend into the surrounding 1920s style Victorian homes in Denver’s Platt Park neighborhood while featuring all-electric construction that approaches the strict European Passive House standards. The home is totally encased in insulation with fresh air provided by two Energy Recovery Ventilation units, and air quality is assured through the use of materials that avoid indoor air pollution. Heating and cooling is done with a ground source heat pump and a hydronic “mini split’’ system. Water heating is also handled by a heat pump- and a hot water recirculating system “memorizes’’ 14 -day usage patterns. A mother-in-law suite includes its own kitchen.
