Our 2021 Metro
Denver Green
Homes Tour
For 2021, we returned to a live home tour on October 2nd. Check out videos and pictures of the excellent homes all doing their part to conserve energy, save money, and leave a smaller footprint on the environment.
Each year, we feature homes that save energy, water and money for their owners, and make the air cleaner for all of us. By visiting these homes you will learn what makes them healthy for residents and the planet alike. We hope they will inspire you to make some changes in your own home.

This year’s tour is presented in coordination with the National Tour of Solar Homes, sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).

Many thanks to this year's expert speakers including:
-
Kate Hogan from the Audobon Society. Live at the AMC, 710 10th Street, Golden, on September 22, 7-8 pm.
-
Rick Angell and Linda Kahananui, from the Colorado Chapter, International Dark-Sky Association. Live at the Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W 32nd Ave, Golden, on September 30, 7-8 pm.
Many of these homes started out as modest tract homes similar to much of the metro area’s housing stock. Through changes over time - from replacing lightbulbs to total remodeling- their owners made them more efficient and less expensive to heat, cool and light. In many cases, the initial modest changes inspired owners to do more – from adding solar energy systems to their roofs to eliminating natural gas entirely. The tour also showcases some stunning new homes in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Congratulations to Sheila Townsend
Our Board Member Sheila Townsend received an award from the Jefferson County Good News Coalition to honor her work for "Enriching the Earth, Enhancing the Future”. The annual awards seek out positive values and happenings throughout Jefferson County and Sheila’s tireless work on the annual Metro Denver Green Homes tour, is just the sort of thing that got their attention. We thank Shelia for her leadership and dedication to a more sustainable world.
