Larson Home

In 2004 the Larsons purchased the winning entry in the Solar Decathlon home competition – a 650 square-foot home designed and built by students and faculty at the University of Colorado. They converted it to a highly efficient home on Lookout Mountain, expanding it to 2,800 square feet in 2005.

The rooftop solar electric system is maximized with passive solar design such as extensive south facing high-performance windows with overhangs for shade, along with heavily insulated walls and ceilings. Solar hot water feeds a radiant floor heating system and domestic hot water.
